Chrissy Teigen is back! But she didn’t just return, she issued a lengthy apology for her past mistakes and her bad and rude behavior of trolling fellow celebrities when they behave in a way that is not up to her expectations. This includes telling a then-teenage Courtney Stodden, who went viral for marrying a 51-year-old actor at the age of 16, to kill themselves, both through private messages and in their public comments.
Farah Abraham, Quevenzhané Wallis, Lindsay Lohan, and former U.S. President Trump are just a few of the celebrities who have witnessed the wrath of Teigen’s witty remarks. With her relatability, her “ordinary” celebrity life vibes, and her hot looks, who would dare oppose her?
Chrissy Teigen Opens Up About Being A Troll
This may not be the latest trolling that the famous Chrissy Teigen has done, and she may have written it off as comments from an era gone by, but it apparently hurt someone then and is still hurting them down.
In 2020, Courtney Stodden, 26, divorced their husband of more than 9 years, Doug Hutchison, admitting to the public at the time that they were used and manipulated. But as a child, in their own words, who shouldn’t be in that kind of situation in the first place, they said it felt worse than celebrities joined the general public to bully them. At the time of their very public marriage, Stodden was the world’s punching bag, anybody who had anything snarky to say said it to them.
After coming out as non-binary in 2021, they appeared in an interview where they called out Chrissy Teigen, 35, and other celebrities for being rude and mean to her. The public quickly turned furious, how dare Teigen tells teenage girl to kill themselves, repeatedly.
Chrissy Teigen has been known to be vulnerable on Twitter, the social media platform that saw her epic rise to fame, even claiming that people commenting snarky things at her hurts her, so it feels wrong that the one behavior that’s come to bite her “little Asian” behind is her obsession with internet trolling.
A few days after Stodden publicly revealed that Teigen once told them “I can’t wait for you to die”, Teigen tweeted an apology, writing, “I am mortified and sad at who I used to be. I was an insecure, attention-seeking troll.”
Stodden responded to Teigen’s open apology on Instagram saying, “I accept her apology and forgive her. But the truth remains the same, I have never heard from her or her camp in private.”
Teigen kept quiet for a few days and then resurfaced unexpectedly on Monday to issue a lengthy apology asking her victims and everybody else to forgive her for her past mistakes (and they were many), and promising that she’s not only better now, but that she will keep becoming better in the days that follow. She praised therapy for helping her identify the behaviors that lead to trolling and also for making her a more positive person every coming day.
Chrissy Used To Ne “Insecure”, But Now She’s More “Empathetic”
While Chrissy Teigen can by no means take back the pain and hurt she has caused with her “jokes”, the most she could do is to apologize to those people and be a better person moving on. Well, she has done one of those things, whilst promising to work harder on the other one.
“Hi, all. It has been a VERY humbling few weeks,” she began her apology letter. “I know I’ve been quiet, and lord knows you don’t want to hear about me, but I want you to know I’ve been sitting in a hole of deserved global punishment, the ultimate “sit here and think about what you’ve done”. Not a day, not a single moment has passed where I haven’t felt the crushing weight of regret for the things I’ve said in the past.”
She made mention of the really shocking situation that saw her past tweets and bullying comments unearthed, “As I look at them and understand the hurt they caused, I have to stop and wonder: How could I have done that?”

She promised to reach out to the people who she’s insulted in the past and smooth things over with them. “There is simply no excuse for my past horrible tweets. My targets didn’t deserve them. No one does. Many of them needed empathy, kindness, understanding, and support, not my meanness masquerading as a kind of casual, edgy humor.”
“I was a troll, full stop. And I am so sorry. I want to go a little further here, thinking of those I’ve hurt and friends I’ve disappointed,” she added. “When I first started using social media, I had so much fun with it. I made jokes, random observations. Think of all the engineers, working day and night to develop this amazing new platform and technology, connecting people all over the world to learn, create, and find kindred spirits. And I used it to snark at some celebrities.”
She blamed her immaturity and insecurity for her past bullying ways but said that life has taught her to have more empathy.
She asked for “patience” as she continues to grow, but not for “forgiveness”.
She concluded her lengthy apology by thanking everyone who “listened” to her story. Her husband John Legend commented on the post with four red heart emojis.
