Danica McKellar To Play A Dancer In Upcoming Rom-Com

Almost a decade after the actress first appeared on Dancing with the Stars, Danica McKellar has signed on to appear on her next role, and she’s got her dancing shoes on in this one. With dance obviously in her genes, generously passed on to her from her mother, we will be clearly expecting more than a shimmy and a shake from her.

Danica McKellar  – Says Her New Roles Was One She Wanted For A Long Time

Danica McKellar has always loved dancing from a young age, but her 2014 appearance on DWTS made her wish to be a dancer on one of her movie roles. After years of wishing for it, that dream is finally coming true in the form of a brand new role in the upcoming rom-com “Swinging into Romance.”

“I’ve been wanting to dance in a movie since I was on Dancing with the Stars in 2014, but I’ve always loved dancing,” McKellar, 48, told PEOPLE about her latest role for Great American Family. “My mom was a professional dancer before I was born, so the love of dance is in my genes.”

According to the network, “Swinging Into Romance” is set to follow former dancer Christine Sims (McKellar) when she temporarily goes back to her hometown to be a part of the Fall Festival and finds out that her family’s General Store is struggling. In her bid to save the business, Christine turns to dance, and in facing her ex-fiancé, she might even find love.

This story is very close to McKellar’s heart, literally, as her husband Scott Sveslosky wrote the story.

“Back in 2017, I told my husband that I wanted to play a math teacher in a movie, and he wrote the story for a movie that ended up being called Campfire Kiss, and I did that for Hallmark,” McKellar, who also serves as an executive producer on the film, explained. “More recently, I said, ‘I really want to dance in a movie,’ and he wrote this story.”

She then clarifies that her husband is “not a writer! He’s a lawyer. He just is good at putting together ideas when I really want to do something. And it’s just fun to have that knowledge that he’s a part of this.”
