Drew Barrymore Sets Record Straight, Says Her Words Were Twisted

Drew Barrymore wants to set the record straight. After there were headlines suggesting the former Hollywood actress said that she wanted her mother Jaid dead, she says that is not the case at all.

Instead, Drew condemned the media for supposedly twisting her words about her mother. Here’s what you need to know.

Earlier in the week, Drew spoke to New York Magazine about her personal life and well, her non-existent relationship with her mother.

As many of her fans can recall, Drew had a very difficult childhood. When she was only 13, her mother put her in a psychiatric ward in California. She was also put to rehab several times for her drugs and alcohol addiction.”

In her interview, the actress said that most of her mother’s friends have already died and that she’s still alive.

Drew told the publication, “All their moms are gone, and my mom’s not. And I’m like, ‘Well, I don’t have that luxury.’ But I cannot wait. I don’t want to live in a state where I wish for someone to be gone sooner than they’re meant to be so I can grow. I actually want her to be happy and thrive and be healthy. But I have to f–king grow in spite of her being on this planet.”

But after Page Six published a headline that said, “Drew Barrymore admits she wishes her mother Jaid was dead,” Drew went off.

She fired back with, “You know what, to all you tabloids out there, you have been fucking with my life since I was 13 years old. I have never said that I wished my mother was dead. How dare you put those words in my mouth.”

Of course, many of her Twitter fans reacted with, “Good for her for standing up for herself. What an appalling lie from the media. Disgraceful,” along with, “It’s hard to figure out a complex relationship with the person while they’re still alive because the story is still being written. Not that hard to understand her point.”
