John Mayer Shares What Changed After Dating Jennifer Aniston And Jessica Simpson

Jennifer Aniston’s ex boyfriend John Mayer once earned a reputation as the entertainment world’s most famous womanizer. And the musician seemed determined to line up dates with every A-list star in Hollywood. For instance, John dated Aniston, Jessica Simpson, and Taylor Swift.

John Mayer – Changes His Womanizing Ways

Time for a change! Because John Mayer knows his reputation as a womanizer, the musician doesn’t bother denying his past. But he does want to offer an update. And John did so during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, noted Page Six.

However, the guitarist/songwriter’s reasons for changing turn out to be quite simple: Sobriety. And after six years of sobriety, John does not “date that much.” But Mayer sought to explain what dating now represents.

“Dating is no longer a codified activity for me,” clarified the singer. And he added, “It’s not patterned anymore. I quit drinking like six years ago,” he added. As a result, the Grammy winner now lacks “the liquid courage. I just have dry courage.”

But John also shared what he feels he needs to do moving forward. “You have to be honest,” noted Mayer. And he believes becoming “really, glaringly honest,” has changed his life. However, the singer also talked about his womanizing past. And he simply said, “That is what that is. That’s the role I play on the big TV show I didn’t write,” added the guitarist of the gossip world. “But that’s fine. Maybe I had a hand in it or something.”

But Mayer also reflected on romance. And he feels that he got forced to “believe” that love represented an “accident.” As a result, John learned how to “capitalize” on it. And the singer added, “I think people would be surprised to know that it was less me going like, you know the meme of the guy behind the tree?”

However, he does feel as if his search for romance involved “more like [looking around and wondering], ‘Me?’” And after making all those headlines for his A-list dates, Mayer also finally revealed who inspired one of his trademark songs. Even though John romanced Jessica Simpson, Katy Perry, and Jennifer Aniston, his most famous ballad doesn’t revolve around a celebrity.

And the singer/songwriter clarified that he penned his song, “Your Body Is a Wonderland,” before he met any of his famous dates. “That was about my first girlfriend [in high school],” Mayer revealed. “I was 21 when I wrote that song,” he pointed out. “And I was nostalgic for being 16.”

However, John also requested that friends halt their urges for him to find a permanent partner. And he then joked, “I’m doing fine because the left side of my bed is just a row of pillows. I sleep next to a row of pillows. That stack of pillows doesn’t resent or hate me or bring me down.”

But the singer also shared that he hopes to “meet somebody” in the future. And he predicted, “When I do, it will be additive and awesome and great. But until then, I’m going to be just fine.”
