But one of the biggest bombshells came when the actor famed for playing lead roles such as Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates Of The Caribbean” shared his own personal struggles. And that resulted in Johnny getting honest about his use of both drugs and alcohol.

Johnny Depp – Recalls Childhood Struggles, Confesses Drug Use

His mother’s “nerve pills” and abuse caused Johnny Depp to struggle throughout his childhood, the actor revealed in his trial against Amber Heard. As a result, Depp blames his challenges with drugs and drinking on his mother, reported Deadline. But when Johnny got honest about his addiction, Amber’s lawyers turned his drug use into a weapon. And fans rushed to social media to defend him.

For instance, one called Amber’s legal team “desperate” for trying to shift the focus to Johnny’s drug use. But Johnny defended his use of drugs as well as excessive drinking. And he recalled the abuse he suffered from his mother when she took her “nerve pills.” As a result of those childhood struggles, Depp feels his drug and alcohol use represent “self-medication.”

But Johnny repeatedly denied abusing Amber. And the actor shifted to attacking her allegations about why he used drugs. Because of his abusive parent, Depp started taking her pills at age 11 “to take the edge off.” As for those claims that Johnny used drugs and alcohol to fuel party behavior? Wrong, said the actor, explaining he used “self-medication” to lessen his “pain.”

However, Depp also attacked Heard’s allegations about his drug abuse. And after blaming his childhood “trauma” for his use of pills, the actor called Amber’s drug abuse claims “grossly embellished,  and sorry to say, a lot of it is plainly false. It was an easy target for her to hit.”

But Johnny also slammed his ex-wife’s attempts to describe him as constantly high. “I am not some maniac who needs to be high or loaded all the time,” insisted the actor. And he also denied ever becoming “out of control” while filming.

“When I was with Ms. Heard, and her friends and we were all drinking wine and I was smoking marijuana, they used to tease me for what they said was a ludicrous tolerance,” recalled Depp. “Because I never appeared bloated or high,” he added. However, Johnny did share that he became “addicted” to a prescription for Roxycodone in the wake of a back injury. But he then managed to stop using that drug.
