Johnny Depp Files To Appeal $2 Million Verdict As Countersuit

This is getting more and more interesting. In other words, Johnny Depp is saying “I’ll see to the end of this.” Soo… Few days ago, Heard officially appealed the verdict, the notice was filed by her lawyers on Thursday, July 21.

Guys, by now, I think we all know her reason for appealing the verdict, because the reason is very obvious, even though Heard said that after the trial is over she hopes that Depp moves on with his life, we can all agree that, that’s far from what’s happening now in fact, after the defamation case was settled and the verdict was ruled in Depp’s favor, Heard has done the opposite of moving on.

On June 1, the seven jurors who sat for the trial ruled in favor of Depp and awarded him $15 Million for damages that Heard is to pay for being found guilty of really defaming Depp, The judge, later on, reduced the punitive damages to $350,000, according to Fairfax County legal limit, making his total damages less than $10.4 million. Depp is also to pay $2 Million to Heard for damages, and that’s because Depp was also found guilty of defaming Heard.

Johnny Depp — Why He Appealed Verdict

Heard has done everything in her power to see that Depp’s victory verdict is tossed but to no avail, when she realized that all her antics didn’t work, she resorted to appealing the verdict. Well, since Amber Heard thinks she can afford to appeal the verdict, Johnny Depp and his team have decided to also appeal the verdict. Depp’s lawyers filed the notice the day following Heard’s appeal which is Friday, July 22, and Depp appeals to counter the $2 million awarded to Heard by the judge in Heard’s defamation case.

A source that is close to Depp told PEOPLE that the verdict was overwhelming for Depp and that Depp believes that after this, both he and Heard would go their separate ways and also begin their healing. The source said that Depp “believes that this is a time for both parties to move on with their lives and heal. But if Ms. Heard is determined to pursue further litigation by appealing the verdict, Mr. Depp is filing a concurrent appeal to ensure that the full record and all relevant legal issues are considered by the Court of Appeal.”

Remember I said Heard is not satisfied with the Jury’s verdict hence the appeal, as it is, Heard believes that so many errors were made by the court during the defamation trial and that those errors led to the issuance of an unfair verdict.

In the past, I mean some days after the defamation trial ended, Heard said that a vital piece of evidence that would have been used to prove Depp guilty was not used in the court, mind you, during the trial, lots of evidence were displayed in court including video tapes and audio clips, witnesses were also called up to testify but Heard said there is a particular evidence that won her the trial of the UK lawsuit.

After Heard’s appeal for the verdict, Depp’s team released a statement that was obtained by Deadline explaining that the trial which lasted for a total of six weeks produced a verdict which was agreed upon unanimously by the jurors that Heard indeed defamed Depp. The statement says, “The jury listened to the extensive evidence presented during the six-week trial and came to a clear and unanimous verdict that the defendant herself defamed Mr. Depp, in multiple instances, we remain confident in our case and that this verdict will stand.”
