Kanye West Explains That Kim Kardashian Raises Their Kids Most Of the Time

While ironing out some issues he faced via criticism in “Alo Minds” podcast on Friday, Sept. 16, Kanye “Ye” West spoke about how he and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian co-parent their children despite having split for a while now. The exes share four children and so far they’ve been doing a good job in raising the children, even, prior to this, Kanye and Kim discussed the school they would want their two eldest kids to attend, and they both came to the conclusion to send the kids to Kanye’s private school which was named after his mother.

Now, speaking on the podcast Kanye explained that every once in a while he chips in to give Kim relevant advice that works for their children and that Kim spends nearly 80 percent of her time raising the kids, “Your home is your original church. So, even to this day, I’ll still give Kim advice on things that can help, because that’s gonna go to the kids. She’s still gotta — basically 80 percent of the time — raise those children.”

Kim and Kanye first met around 2002/2003 when she had yet to become a household name. “I met him I think in 2002 or 2003,” Kardashian told Ryan Seacrest during the Keeping Up With the Kardashians 10th-anniversary special, per Us Weekly. “He was recording a song with Brandy, and I was her friend. I vividly remember hanging out with him and then they did a video together, so I’d see him a few times. He was asking his friends: ‘Who is this Kim Kardajan?’ He didn’t know what my name was.”

Kim and Kanye got married in May 2004 and split in March this year.

Kanye West — Kim Would Never Talk Bad About Kanye

In an interview with Variety, Kim while speaking about her split with her ex-husband Kanye, opened up that, although she champions publicly, she preferred dealing with issues privately. Kim explained that being a public figure and always letting the public in on most things going on in her family including disagreements, she’s never one to publicly caution or correct someone, she does both the cautioning and correcting inside.

Speaking of how she feels about her ex’s character towards her then boyfriend Pete Davidson, Kim made it clear that the last thing she would do is criticize the father of her children publicly, no matter how bad the situation seems, she wouldn’t do that because no matter what, he’ll always be her kids’ father and they would always be a family.

Kim said, “I don’t think I would ever criticize the father of my children on my TV show. That’s just not really what I’m about, and I just don’t think that would ever make me feel good. I’m always really respectful of what the kids will see. The reality is, we’re always a family. We always will have a love and respect for each other. And even if there’s moments where it might not seem like that, there are so many moments that are super positive. I do think it’s important for people to see that things aren’t perfect all the time, but that they can get better.”

In an interview with Ellen Degeneres 7 months ago, when Ellen praised Kim for always protecting Kanye, Kim said that her relaxed attitude regarding co-parenting was inspired by how her mom and dad navigated their tricky divorce when she was just 11 years old. “I think that’s just who I am, and I always had such a good example in my mom and my dad and their relationship. So I’m always just hopeful, and no matter what goes on, it’s the father of my kids.”

“I’ll always be protective,” she went on. “I always want my kids to just see the best of the best. I just try to — as hard as it can be sometimes — I do try to ignore [Kanye’s behavior] and try to do whatever’s best for the kids. Take the high road.”

Kim said that despite all she has gone through, she still tries to see life positively. She said “As hard as it is, I try to sit still sometimes and be like, OK, what is this lesson, what am I meant to learn from it, and how can I just get through it, and what is this challenge placed here in my life?” she concluded with “I just live my life the way I think is right and that I feel is right in my soul and just push forward and do the best that I can, and that’s the whole message I just try to take away from not going your way in life, is just try to learn, move on, and be a good person.”
