The LA fires might be the worst in history, and many people lost their homes, including Mel Gibson. However, when reports about his home being destroyed arrived, critics slammed the media coverage of the disaster. Read on to find out why.

LA Fires Affected Thousands Of People

News reports arrived that people died in the fires. Plus, stories arrived about an alleged suspect being arrested for arson. However, it’s too late to bring back lost homes and loved ones. Business interruptions caused some entertainment productions to go on hiatus. And, the list of celebs who lost their homes increased. 

The LA fires burned homes belonging to Cameron Mathis, Leighton Meester, Paris Hilton, Adam Brody’, Mel Gibson, and more. The tragedy affected so many other people, that the General Hospital soap issued a content warning for a fire scene involving Michael Corinthos, (Chad Duell.)

The Home Of Mel Gibson Burned In The LA Fires

TMZ reported that the famous actor and producer wasn’t at home when the place was reduced to ashes. Instead, he was in Texas with Joe Rogan. His comments about it arrived via News Nation. The outlet noted that Mel was “incredibly lighthearted [and] positive.”

The outlet cited Mel Gibson as saying that the LA fires had  “perfectly burnt” his home. Joking, he also said, “You could put it in an urn,” and asked if he would rebuild, he said that he would, adding, “Hey, anyone wanna buy some land?”

Angry Critics Slam The Media

When TMZ shared their story on Instagram, many people grew angry about the joking. But more importantly, they felt upset because they believed too much attention was being paid to celebrities, and not enough to everyday Joe. Many people might not have the money to rebuild, get their small businesses back, or reclaim the lives of their loved ones and pets.

  • My brother lost his home and 2 cars in the fire, but that will never make the news.
  • I’m pretty sure there’s thousands of underprivileged people whose homes burned down. How about we direct our media resources to them so they can receive aid.
  • We don’t care about you Mel. Our prayers are for other… Californians who lost their home.
  • I don’t care about ONE of Mel Gibsons homes???? There are thousands of people that have nowhere to go!
