Melania Trump faced numerous online rumors this year, ranging from speculation about her marriage to far more serious allegations. We examined the origins of several prominent claims and whether credible evidence supports them.
Is Melania Jealous of Natalie Harp?
One of the major rumors that recently resurfaced suggests that Melania Trump is jealous of Natalie Harp, the president’s executive assistant.
According to the International Business Times, the rumor gained momentum after “author Michael Wolff claimed the couple ‘barely speak’ and spend little time together.”

Despite the online speculation, there is no confirmed evidence that Melania is jealous of Harp. The claim rests largely on comments from Michael Wolff and unnamed sources.
Changing Diapers
On social media, critics suggested that Melania might be happy to have Harp around to “change Trump’s diapers.” But what renewed that rumor?
Per Snopes, the rumors started again in May after footage arrived showing Donald Trump near the White House, staring and pointing at its pillars.
On social media, some folks claimed the video showed him briefly stopping to soil his pants. However, it doesn’t prove that actually happened.
Another incident added to the rumor during an Oval Office ceremony. Yahoo carried a Politico report about Monique Frehley, the daughter of late 2025 Kennedy Center honoree Ace Frehley, “scrunching her face as though she smelled something bad.” However, she was apparently reacting to a joke.
A Busy Schedule
Harp’s job is dealing with schedules, logistics and managing correspondence, and she also oversees Trump’s Truth Social posts.
Kept busy, Harp also often attends meetings and discussions in the Oval Office and goes with the president when he travels.
According to the New York Times, “She never takes a day off, not even on Sunday. She works out of the Oval Office and she’s got a regular seat on Marine One…She stays up late with him drafting social media posts.”
Her constant presence around Trump probably helps keep the rumors alive.
Done With DJT?
Another rumor making the rounds suggests that Melania has been keeping a low profile because she’s fed up with her husband’s public comments.
Some people also speculated that she was upset when the East Wing, home to her office, was torn down. That could have some truth to it because in October 2025, The Wall Street Journal reported that Melania had “privately raised concerns about tearing down the East Wing.”
Still, she never came out publicly claiming that she was so angry about it that she stayed away from public appearances.
Public Absences
Melania and Barron’s absence from Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding in May 2026 only added fuel to the fire. However, Donald Trump himself also skipped the event, citing government responsibilities.
However, there is a reported incident that could account for Melania Trump and Barron staying low-profile. In July, Iranian state media aired a video titled “Where to Kill Melania,” which also included warnings aimed at Barron and mentioned a reward for his death.
Perhaps the threats give Melania Trump a good reason to keep a low profile for the time being.
Was Melania Recruited by Jeffrey Epstein?
Another strong rumor on social media, is that Melania was recruited by Jeffrey Epstein.
The October 2002 email about it was addressed to Ghislaine Maxwell and referred approvingly to a New York Magazine article about Epstein. However, the message does not show that Epstein recruited Melania or that she knew about his crimes.
According to People, Melania described the email to Maxwell as nothing “more than casual correspondence.” She also insisted that she “had no knowledge of” Epstein and Maxwell’s abuse of underage girls.
The Persistent Prostitution Rumor
Some social media users continue to claim that Melania Trump once worked as a prostitute. It is one of the longest-running rumors about the First Lady.
No credible evidence established that Melania worked as an escort. Reuters reported that that the Daily Mail retracted the allegations, apologized and paid damages after Melania sued. In its apology, the publication accepted that the allegations were untrue and withdrew them.
