Pauly Shore – Insists He’ll Play Richard Simmons Despite the Latter’s Disapproval
Have you seen Pauly Shore playing Richard Simmons? Yes, you’re going to see him as the popular fitness guru soon because he is not hearing anything said fitness guru has to say.
The ‘Encino Man’ star, 56, has once again addressed the controversies surrounding his planned appearance on a Simmons biopic.
He reportedly touched on the subject during his appearance at his ‘Netflix is a Joke’ show at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles on Friday, May 3.
“I’m also gonna be starring in the Richard Simmons biopic … whether he likes it or not, Richard,” Shore said at the event, per Variety. “Just another f—— bump in my f—— road.”
Shore’s pushback comes mere days after Simmons, 76, took to social media to blast the feature length film being developed by Warner Bros.

On the April 24 post shared on X, he told fans that he “just read a man that I don’t know is writing” a biopic that will have Shore as the lead star. He further added that he does not approve of the project, since he’s already set on doing his.
“I do not approve this movie. I am in talks with major studios to create my own biopic with some help,” he said. “Wait for this movie.”
Simmons had previously shared his disgruntlement with the Pauly Shore-led movie when it was originally announced in January.
The announcement came on the heels of the short film ‘The Court Jester” debuting at the Sundance Music festival. In the hilarious short, Shore played Simmons.

This provoked a reaction from Simmons, who said, “The Pauly Shore biopic does not have my blessing. Some major studios are interested with me being involved in MY story. Who should play me? Tom Cruise lol.”
Shore also responded to this disapproval back then too by sharing a screenshot of Simmons’ statement, which he said left him up all night crying.
He added: “Richard, how do you not approve of this movie? I mean, really, who’s better to play you in a movie than ME?”
