Shania Twain Forgives Ex-Husband Robert John Lange For Sleeping With Her BFF

Shania Twain’s career has been overshadowed for decades by her ex-husband Robert John “Mutt” Lange’s cheating scandal. 

Despite the fact that he committed the ultimate betrayal, the country music legend seems to have forgiven her ex and former bestie Marie-Anne Thiebaud.

Robert Juhn Mutt Lange’s Cheating Scandal

Shania Twain was at the height of her career, and basking in her “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” success when her husband’s affair became the stuff of tabloid legends. 

Not only did her husband Robert John “Mutt” Lange cheat on her, but he did it with her best friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud (who also was married at the time). 

To add insult to injury, Shania Twain’s husband also served as her producer, writer, manager, etc.  Her entire career was in the hands of the man who was sleeping with her friend.

Shania Twain’s scandalous divorce was messy to say the least.  Country music fans rallied behind Twain, and Mutt Lange became a social pariah. 

His endeavors and other clients began to dry up, and he certainly paid for what he did to Shania.  Mutt and Twain’s divorce was official in 2010.

Twain sat down with Jaime Laing this week and chatted on her “Great Company” podcast about her divorce almost 20 years ago.  Shania explained that she doesn’t hate Mutt, and he was battling his own demons when he cheated on her.

Shania dished, “I feel bad that he had those problems.  He’s a human being that deserves empathy and understanding.  I think we all do.”

The country music singer added, “So, do I hate my ex-husband for making a mistake? No. It’s his mistake. Not my mistake. So sad for him that he made such a great mistake that he has to live with. And I don’t know what that is, but it’s not. That’s not my weight.”
