According to The Sun, following her suspension from The View after she claimed that the Holocaust was “not about race,” Whoopi Goldberg is “livid and threatening to quit” the show.
After receiving a reprimand from network executives Goldberg apparently feels “humiliated” and has told co-workers she plans to quit the show according to a source for the New York Post. Reportedly, the comedian is taking the suspension badly and feels that ABC “mishandled” the entire situation.

Network President Calls Whoopi’s Comments ‘Wrong and Hurtful’
Per the source, Goldberg “followed their playbook” apologizing first on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and again on The View the following day. Evidently, suspension from The View is akin to suspension from Bravo – “the bar is very low.”
ABC News President Kim Godwin called Goldberg’s comments, “wrong and hurtful” when she announced the two-week suspension. “The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.”
A source told The Daily Beast that Whoopi’s co-stars on The View, Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, and Ana Navarro are also furious with the network’s decision. Though none of the co-hosts have come forward with statements of their own, Sunny Hostin did retweet a post that read “ADL making it clear here that the org is accepting Whoopi Goldberg’s apology.”
Whoopi Goldberg’s Apology Tweet
The Daily Mail reported that some staffers at ABC were “really upset” and didn’t understand why it took too long for the comedian to be censured. Apparently, many staffers have called for the 66-year-old comedian to be flat-out fired. According to a source, “These comments are absolutely abhorrent and outrageous and it’s time Disney and ABC grew a pair and fired her.”
For her part though, Goldberg has apologized profusely for her misplaced words. In a tweet, the commentator said, “My words upset so many people, which was never my intention,” and added, “I understand why now and for that, I am deeply, deeply grateful because the information I got was really helpful and helped me understand some different things.”

Whoopi Goldberg’s Timing Could Not Have Been Poorer
Goldberg’s comments couldn’t have come at a worse time for the actress, only a few days after Holocaust Remembrance Day which paid tribute to the six million people who died then. The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never waiver. I am sorry for the hurt I have caused,” Goldberg’s tweet concluded, “written with my sincerest apolologies.”
