Will Smith Apologizes For Chris Rock Slap: Watch YouTube Video Here!

Will Smith took only seconds to rush the Oscars stage and slap Chris Rock. But as the Gemini Man actor discovered, that slap turned into long-lasting repercussions. And while some sympathized with Smith for wanting to defend his wife Jada after Chris mocked her hair loss, no one defended the actor for hitting Rock.

However, Will recently decided that he wants the world to understand his own emotional state. And in a six-minute YouTube video, the King Richard star revealed just how much he regretted slapping Chris. Get all the details below, including the YouTube clip and a link to his Instagram apology. 

Will Smith Begs Chris Rock For Forgiveness

Most of us remember our nursery school teachers telling us to use our words, not our hands. But Will Smith either forgot or ignored that rule on Oscars night. As a result, the actor reacted to Chris Rock throwing shade at Jada Pinkett Smith with violence. However, as the aftermath escalated, Smith suffered. For instance, the Academy Awards committee banned Will from all events for the next decade. And as the pressure intensified, Will even resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, noted Us magazine.

And now Smith has chosen to return to Instagram and YouTube to issue an extremely long apology video. As revealed in the clip he shared on YouTube (see below), it lasted almost six minutes! But Will’s emotions s  eemed to cause challenges in his halting speech. However, he did admit the harm to his relationship with Chris Rock after slapping him And Smith made some other points clear.

For instance, the 53-year-old actor wanted to thank those who had supported him. And with the caption, “Thanx y’all,” Will launched into his apology. “It’s been a minute,” admitted Smith in his delay in apologizing. But the actor explained the reason for the delay.

As a result of what the Aladdin actor described as “fair questions,” Will spent the past months “doing a lot of thinking and personal work.” And he promised to respond to his fans’ questions. But Smith seemed nervous, taking a deep breath as he seated himself in front of the camera. 

And some questions clearly pressed a button. For instance, one asked why Will failed to use his acceptance speech at the Academy Awards to apologize to Rock, 57, for slapping him. “I was fogged out by that point,” claimed Smith. “It’s all fuzzy.” 

However, after slapping Chris, Will shared that he did reach out to the comedian. But Smith alleged that Rock refused to meet. “The message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk,” Smith claimed. “And when he is, he will reach out.”  

Chris Rock And His Mother Receive Apology From Will Smith!

But Will did not want to wait to issue a formal apology to both the actor and his mother. “So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you,” stated Smith. And Will called his behavior “unacceptable.” However, he also tried to extend an olive branch, stating, “I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

And the actor confessed, “I’m trying not to think of myself as a piece of s–t.” But he also took time to apologize to Rock’s mother. “I saw an interview that Chris’ mother did and, you know, that was just one of the things about that moment, I just didn’t realize,” he stated. “And, you know, I wasn’t thinking about how many people got hurt in that moment. So I want to apologize to Chris’ mother, I want to apologize to Chris’ family.” 

As a result of the incident occurring at Hollywood’s prestigious awards show, Smith also sought to apologize to the entertainment community. “This is a community. It’s like, I won because you voted for me,” pointed out the actor. “It really breaks my heart to have stolen and tarnished your moment. And … I’m sorry really isn’t sufficient.”
