Wolfgang Van Halen Claims David Lee Roth Insulted Him For This Reason

Finally, Wolfgang Van Halen has responded to claims he disrespected David Lee Roth during their time in Van Halen and that he only got as far as he did in his career because of his father.

Let’s just say Wolfgang would love to be left out of this conversation. In fact he believes he won’t even be in it if his father was still alive to be a target.

Wolfgang Van Halen – Advises Fans To Take Roth’s Claims With “A Grain of Salt”

Apparently, Wolfgang is not a fan of the disparaging comments Roth made about him on social media.

Wolfgang’s reaction comes a few weeks after Roth posted a video mocking the youngster, who is his former Van Halen bandmate.

Wolfgang Van Halen Claims David Lee Roth Insulted Him For This Reason

In the bass player’s latest chat with Atlanta radio show The Morning X, Wolfgang, 32, said, “I’m honored [Roth] even thinks about me as much as he seems to.”

As some fans may know, Wolfgang played bass alongside the rocker in Van Halen following founding member Michael Anthony’s 2006 exit from the band. The two toured together considerably during that time.

“You have to take what he says with a grain of salt, considering he also said that he wrote ‘Eruption’ and came up with [Eddie Van Halen’s custom guitar] the Frankenstein Strat,” the Mammoth WVH frontman said in reply to Roth’s January remarks.

When the radio program’s host expressed his surprise at the idea of Roth taking credit for Eddie’s 1978 guitar solo “Eruption,” Wolfgang quipped: “He said he wrote all the solos that Dad wrote. I guess that’s all I can say.”

At the end of the day, Wolfgang reasoned that Roth’s issue with him wouldn’t be there if the rocker didn’t have issues with his father. “I seem to have been born into this Van Halen drama that has come way before me,” he said. “And now that my dad isn’t here to be a target, I guess he went to the next best thing.”

What Did David Lee Roth Accuse Wolfgang Van Halen of?

Roth accused Wolfgang of riding on nepotism to fame in a video he shared on Instagram captioned “This F—in Kid.” The video opens with a fake interview that casts Wolfgang as Jesus Christ, before hinting that everything he achieved in life was due to having a famous father.

“Bro, I want people to know I got this job because of my talent,” a Wolfgang impersonator says. “I would have this job anyway, even if my dad wasn’t God. I just want people to know I got this job because of my talent.”

Roth then went on to claim that Wolfgang mostly neglected him during their time in Van Halen.
