Another World Fans Honor Nancy Frangione, Dead At 70

All My Children star Nancy Frangione passed away at age 70. The actress, also famed for her role in Another World, died in her hometown of Barnstable, Massachusetts, on Aug. 18.

From All My Children to Another World, Nancy Frangione earned her reputation as a soap opera queen. For instance, the actress, born on July 10, 1953, portrayed Tara Martin on ABC’s All My Children from 1977-79. And Nancy played scheming villain Cecile DePoulignac on Another World from 1981-84, taking on the challenges of that role repeatedly. As a result, Frangione took home the Soap Opera Digest award for outstanding villainess in 1984, noted the New York Post.

In 1985, Nancy stepped into Andrea Evans’ role as Tina Lord on ABC’s “One Life to Live.” But the actress experimented with other TV roles as well. For instance, Frangione portrayed Fran Fine’s cousin Marsha on The Nanny. And she guest-starred on Highway To Heaven, Matlock and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

 

Nancy also starred in TV films. For example, she appeared in the TV movie Sharing Richard in 1988 and In the Line of Duty: A Cop for the Killing in 1990. In 1982, Nancy tied the knot with her co-star on Another World, Christopher Rich. And the two welcomed a daughter, Mariel. However, the soap opera stars divorced in 1996.

All My Children and Another World fans turned to Nancy’s obituary page and forums to honor her. For instance, one wrote, “I loved to hate her character, Cecile, on Another World. What a fine actress! So sad! May her loved ones find comfort.”

And another fan shared, “RIP Nancy. I remember you well as Cecille on “Another World”, racing home from school to catch you on TV each afternoon! Thinking of Chris Rich as well…xoxo.” 

And the soap opera star’s obituary on Legacy also attracted tributes from fans. The obituary noted that Nancy’s “20-year-long career included shows like “All My Children” and “One Life to Live,” and [she] is best known for playing the villainous Cecile de Poulignac on “Another World.” In response, one fan shared, “This is a gut punch. Nancy was one of a kind.” 

And fans praised the actress as “intrepid, funny, and so very talented.” Another shared, “So sad. I remember watching her.” And another noted, “Cecile de Poulignac was one of daytime’s greatest villainesses and Nancy played her brilliantly. RIP .”
