Coronation Steet Spoilers – Geoff Metcalfe’s Past

Corrie spoilers previously stated that we would learn more about Geoff Metcalfe’s (Ian Bartholomew) past, especially his romantic relationships. However, show bosses made it clear that it wasn’t a redemption story. So, it was assumed that someone from the past would come to call out Geoff’s abuse, and free Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King). In fact, last year, Bartholomew told Radio Times,

“Geoff has lied to Tim for years about the relationship with his mother, Geoff’s first wife. I believe we’ll [be] exploring things between Geoff and Tim a little deeper, and learning more about their past could be key to how the storyline develops.”

Late last year, Joe Duttine was reported as saying the only thing that would have Tim Metcalfe believe that his father was abusive was from his own mother’s lips. That seemed impossible because he thought his mother was a woman named Tessa who died many years ago.

Coronation Street spoilers reveal that Tim ends up turning on his own father in upcoming episodes. Considering that the only thing that would convince him is his dead mother, that was a big clue that he was going to hear the evidence in her own words. We didn’t know if that would be a long-lost diary of hers or how that would play out.

There was also the cover story that was given to the prison — that Elaine worked for a non-profit organization interested in Yasmeen’s case. The inmate soon found out that Elaine had a confession to make.

Then, we saw the way that Elaine looked when she saw Tim with Geoff. The way she looked at Tim was the way a mother would look at her son, but she was also afraid of Geoff recognizing her.

More recently, we found out that her name was Philippa Metcalfe, who was forced to go underground to escape Geoff. This included changing her name and leaving her baby boy behind… Tim.

It seems like we are finally getting to the end of this story. However, Tim will likely want proof that Elaine is really his mother and not someone hired by the defense. Plus, can she be kept safe long enough to help Yasmeen escape two lifelong prison sentences — one behind bars and the other living with Geoff?
