ITV Coronation Street spoilers and updates reveal that the relationship that Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) and David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) once had is seemingly gone. But is there hope for the future?

Now that Shona is back on the cobbles David is doing whatever he can to try and make things right for her. It isn’t her fault that she doesn’t remember who he is!

Her family and friends have tried everything they can think of to help Shona remember, but she is still fragile and they must handle her with care. Up to this point, the delicate woman has felt the safest with Roy Cropper (David Neilson).

Nonetheless, it’s easy to feel David’s pain as he fears the worst—that he and Shona will never regain what they once had. Is he right to despair that his marriage could be over for good?

Then, when Roy tells David that Shona will soon be discharged from the rehab facility, and has been given a helper, David can’t help but be filled with hope.

Roy tries to tell David not to be too enthusiastic as no one can tell what the future holds. As you can imagine, once David starts to prepare for her return he becomes very excited.

Sadly, his hopes are cut in half when it becomes apparent that Shona is nowhere near remembering and may never be able to get her memory back which leads David to spiral downward emotionally.

Coronation Street spoilers – Will Shona ever remember what she had with David?

Show exec Iain MacLeod told Metro.co.uk that fans can expect to see a long road ahead for these two, “They work best as sparky and funny so there will be a comedy but her feelings are absent and there’s no emotional attachment – it will be a bumpy road.”

Still, he seems to hint at the story’s conclusion when he says, “It’s not love at first sight when she sees him – for his part, David’s challenge is to make her fall back in love with him. But she’s also a different proposition too so he also has to fall back in love with her. ‘Nobody has a long term desire to split them up so they will have a happy ending. They’re like cheese and crackers – none are good without the other. But it’s a very unique and emotionally complicated story.”
