Coronation Street Spoilers – Michael Bailey’s Assumption Started It

Corrie spoilers reveal that Spencer told Digital Spy that Grace didn’t set out to lie about Tianna Powell (Navaeh Maloney) being Michael Bailey’s child. The actress explained that she really was pregnant with Michael’s baby, but then she ended up losing the child. After a long absence, Michael recognized Grace at the grocery store, saw the baby, and just assumed it was his. Grace didn’t deny or confirm it at that time. She was so shocked that she just ran.

So, even if Michael assumed the baby was his, why didn’t Grace eventually tell him that Tianna wasn’t her child? Well, losing the baby was traumatic for Grace and she had a mental breakdown. Then, when she bumped into Michael, she didn’t want him going through what she did. Later, she switched gears and felt that he needed to hurt as badly as she did. She never planned on falling back in love with him.

“I also don’t think Grace banked on the fact that she was going to fall back in love with Michael. If she’d known that, she wouldn’t have done it, because it’s made matters worse. She got herself into a situation and didn’t know how to get out of it.”

Coronation Street spoilers reveal that we might see more of Grace in the future. Spencer said that the character is not going to leave quietly and there might be more stories to tell.

“I think she’s got a lot more to give. She’s not going to leave that quietly. I think there’s going to be a lot of twists and turns. I think there’s a little bit more to come…”

It seems that Spencer has a really good analysis of Grace’s history, various mental states, and her reasoning for doing what she did. It is almost as if the actress is setting viewers up to have empathy for Grace. While she doesn’t expect fans to excuse Grace’s actions, she does hope that they understand it.

“Grace is definitely feeling pretty guilty and it all goes down to the fact that she had a breakdown initially. She’s obviously got a few mental health problems and she hasn’t got over the fact that she lost a child.”
