Coronation Street Spoilers: Star Bill Roache Talks Whether Coronation Street Could Go Off Air

Coronation Street: Bill Roache

There had been reports circulating that “Coronation Street” may run out of new episodes amid the coronavirus lockdown. One of its cast, Bill Roache, who is playing the role of Ken Barlow, opened up about viewers’ fears that the soap doesn’t have enough episodes to air.

The actor, who’s been with the sudser since it aired its first episode back in 1960, talked to Good Morning Britain about what he’s been up to while the stay at home order is set in place. He also addressed the fans’ concerns that the soap may be taken off air when it can no longer air new episodes.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Roaches’ Take On The Current Situation

The actor recalled that the show was airing new episodes six times a week and then got cut back to 3 times a week.

“And I think we had about two months [left]. Considering how many new episodes the soap had left to show with the rationing, he said”I’m not quite sure but I think maybe about four months,” Roache said.

Then Piers Morgan asked him about what may happen if they run out of episodes to air, the actor said that the show wouldn’t be taken off air completely.

“Well look, we’ve got 60 years to go on so I don’t think we’ll be going off-air even when they run out,” he explained.

“There’s plenty they can be showing but I think we have got about four months in all, probably three more. I’m not sure,” he added.

For now, nobody really knows if the show has enough episodes until the lockdown is lifted. And if they do, fans have to wait and see if the show bosses will choose to air classic episodes until they can resume production.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Is Ken Barlow Leaving Again?

Fans were shocked by Ken Barlow when he decided to leave the cobbles and move to Stillwaters’ retirement village. However, it seems like he’s not settling in well in his new surroundings and recently revealed that he’s thinking of leaving again.

Viewers have seen Ken try to fit in at Stillwaters but he’s unable to do so. He made the announcement during his victory speech in the election at the retirement village. He said he won’t take the post and instead let Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden) fill the position. He explained that he no longer wants to stay in that place. Is he really leaving Stillwaters? Or can Claudia Colby (Rula Lenska) do something about it?

At least this sounds more positive that Coronation Street might be able to keep up with episodes, that is if the lockdown finishes soon. Fingers crossed!
