Coronation Street star Tanisha Gorey admitted her character Asha Alahan may have rushed into moving in with boyfriend Corey and might regret it later.

Previous episodes have shown Dev Ahan (Jimmi Harkishin) opposing his daughter Asha and Corey’s relationship. But with his meddling, Corey’s father Stefan (Paul Opacic) took over the lease at the old flat for Asha and his son to live together.

The actress commented on Asha’s romanticizing the situation and neglecting Corey’s manipulative behavior because she feels that she only has her boyfriend right now. Upon moving in with him, Asha thinks she’s living the life she wants.

But an intense encounter between Dev and Corey slowly shatters Asha’s blind faith. Dev visits the flat after being warned by Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelly King), who has observed Corey’s manipulative tendencies. This aggravates Corey and warns Asha that her father is not welcome to visit again.

“But when Corey makes it clear that Dev is not welcome, it is very undermining and Asha begins to feel like she may have rushed into things,” Tanisha told Digital Spy.

Tanisha confessed that her character Asha wants her dad to be part of the world she is building right now, but Corey is isolating her from her family.

The actress acknowledged the psychological reasons for Asha’s rash decision. She is insecure and is desperate to be loved, especially after all that she has been through for her skin lightening, sexting, and recent break-up with Nina.

“Asha is holding on to that and she likes the fact that Corey is always there for her, she mistakes it for support and care,” she added.

Although everybody knows, including Asha, that Corey is a control freak, she compromises just to have someone, and since “Corey is always there it makes him the perfect candidate.”

Asha gives her all just for their so-called relationship to be flawless. And although she is smart and is discerning that this is wrong, her ego won’t let her admit that to herself just yet.

The actress also pointed out that Asha is not yet over for Nina. She found her comfort in Nina when she struggled with a leaked topless video of her filmed by his boyfriend Corey last year, which paved the way for the two to get close.

“Deep down, she knows she still has something there for Nina. Asha really liked Nina because she was so unique and Nina really helped Asha find herself so she is not as happy as she could be, she would be happier being with Nina,” she explained.

But now that Nina is dating Seb, Asha’s desires with her aren’t possible.
