Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) are given the worst news possible about their son Oliver (Emmanuel and Jeremiah Cheetham) when they are told the boy has an incurable form of mitochondrial disease.

Leanne understandably has a hard time accepting this news and her position causes problems for the people trying to help her. She demands a second opinion, which is not outrageous given the circumstances, but then begins to focus her attention solely on Oliver.

Unfortunately, things get complicated when they show up to a romantic night between Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) and Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall). Oops. Can the two couples salvage something of the evening?
