Corrie fans may recognize Nicola Duffett from her role as Debbie Bates on the iconic BBC sudser EastEnders. Debbie was tragically killed off as the victim of a hit-and-run event back in 1995.

Now, Duffett has been brought on to Coronation Street to play a part in Yasmeen’s extended prison storyline. This won’t be her first time on the cobbles, however. In 2015 she had a guest appearance as a character named Mrs. Bird.

The beautiful and talented actress appeared as Debbie on the BBC soap from 1993 to 1995. What will she get up to as part of the Corrie cast? She has come to the town of Weatherfield as a fellow prisoner to Yasmeen. Poor Yasmeen will need a friend in lockup and Lucie will be that person.

Lucie will learn all about Yasmeen and hear her scary tale of how she lived for years with the domestic abuse doled out by evil husband Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew).

Yasmeen could be sentenced to 15 years in prison for slashing Geoff’s neck with a broken bottle. That is a crime, a physical attack, no doubt about it. However, her extenuating circumstances will likely be brought up in her defense. Yasmeen was an emotionally and physically battered wife, and among other things, Geoff actually killed Yasmeen’s pet and served it to her for dinner.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Lucie Victoria Barlow Will Befriend Yasmeen Nazir In Prison

In upcoming episodes, Geoff tells Yasmeen that he will forgive her and drop the charges against her if she agrees to come home and playhouse with him again.

Lacking any other real option out of her hell hole, Yasmeen considers his vile offer. Where does Lucie play into this? She will be nice to Yasmeen and give her a smuggled phone so that she can call Geoff and talk to him about his offer.

What did Nicola do following her stint on EastEnders? She continued to act and starred in Family Affairs. She played booze babe Cat Matthews on the show from 1998 until the show went off the air in 2005.
