Days of Our Lives Celebrates Susan Seaforth Hayes’ Milestone

Days of Our Lives is celebrating Susan Seaforth Hayes’ 50 years on the daytime television show. The actress will have a very special episode air on December 11th, which happens to the 50thanniversary since she first made her debut on the hit NBC soap.

Head writer Ron Carlivati tells Soaps in Depth in an interview, “As we were building toward Christmas and coming out of November sweeps, the subject of Julie’s anniversary came up. I think it was Creative Consultant Ryan Quan who first brought it up to me and said, ‘You know, I think it’s her 50thanniversary coming up,’ so we looked inti it to make sure we got our facts straight and found out yes, it was 50 years ago since her first episode.”

Ron adds that this will be an opportunity for her character Julie to go down memory lane and remember all the good times that she’s had in Salem with her family. After all, there’s such a wealth of source material that will help make the episode a very special one for Susan.

Ron added, “We wanted to figure out a way to incorporate that into the show, so we wrote some scenes where Eli is bringing the Christmas tree over and Julie’s opening the boxes of ornaments and they are thinking about Tom and Alice, naturally. Julie remembers talking to her parents and them urging her to come home for Christmas. I didn’t see the final production, but there should be some flashbacks of that episode.”
