Days Of Our Lives: Kate Mansi Or Marci Miller To Return?

Days Of Our Lives: Abigail DeverauxDays Of Our Lives spoilers and updates reveal to those two certain things in life – death and taxes – I’d like to add a third: Abigail Deveraux will return to Days of Our Lives. It’s as inevitable as the Phoenix rising again.

And, too, Chad (Billy Flynn) is going to need someone to play chess with now that Theo (Cameron Johnson) is headed back to South Africa. So she’ll be back to play that game and others in her (usually) calculated and cool way. And there’s that little matter of unfinished business with her sibling Gwen (Emily O’Brien). She won’t be outplayed, I suspect, but, who will Days fans find playing the role of Abby?

Days Of Our Lives – Shuffling The pieces

Since she was SORASed in 2004, Abigail, the daughter of DOOL legacy characters Jack Deveraux and Jennifer Horton, has been portrayed by three actresses. Initially the role went to Ashley Benson (later, of Pretty Little Liars fame and more recently of Gal Gadot’s ill-conceived celebrity video take on John Lennon’s “Imagine”).

Next up, Kate Mansi settled into the role, a little shorter and a lot less blonde than her predecessor. No matter – Mansi won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her efforts. Then a revolving door of Abigails saw Mansi and Marci Miller swapping spots for varying lengths of time. Miller’s acting, like that of Mansi, was honored with two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

DOOL Spoilers – The Game Has Rules And Limits

For Mansi and Miller (what a great name for a law firm!) their lives away from the set have contained some of those dramatic life-changing events they’ve portrayed on screen: Mansi got married and Miller and husband welcomed their first child, Willet James Matteson. But honeymoons and maternity leaves don’t last forever and soon Abby will make her return to Salem, which, one would hope, would open the door for a Jennifer and Jack (Matthew Ashford) reunion (but which Jennifer, Melissa Reeves or Cady McClain?).

Days Of Our Lives – And The Winner Is …

Will it be the passionate and impulsive Abby (Mansi) or the more calculated and steely version of Abigail (Miller)? Or, might DOOL move toward a recast? In any case, whomever plays Gabby, viewers will win by rejoining her strategic battles with Gwen and her reconciliations with Jack and Chad. So which Abby do you want to return? Why? Here’s a nifty coincidence that might put one ahead of the other. As she noted on her Instagram account, Miller and husband were playing a game of blackjack at a Colorado casino when little Willet insisted on joining the world; Marci knows about gaming … and winning.
