She had been raised to believe that Tamara Price (Marilyn McCoo) was her mother and that Abe was her father. But the truth is that it was Tamara’s sister Paulina, who gave birth to Lani. And all Paulina has said is that Lani’s biological father wasn’t a very good man. But Abe and Lani made up for lost time and quickly became as close as any other father and daughter!

Lani and her husband, Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) are new parent of twins. It seems only natural that Lani will press Paulina to find out the identity of her real father. This will be the one thing that could theoretically tear Abe and Lani’s love for each other apart. If Lani does indeed seek out this unknown man, and if he is as bad as Paulina says, then Lani may at some point be forced to choose between the good man she has come to know as her father and her biological dad.

In the end, Lani will likely realize that she is the same person she always was. But before that happens, there will likely be a lot a soul searching on both Abe and Lani’s part. And Lani may make some bad decisions or say things that she will regret down the road, but ultimately the father and daughter bond between Abe and Lani won’t be broken irreparably.
