It was Chad and Gwen’s idea for Jake to move into the DiMera mansion. Gwen moved in too and Gabi was not happy about this. Each time she looks at Jake, all she can see is a reminder that she lost Stefan DiMera (also played by Brandon Barash). It’s a painful memory and she can’t really move forward when Jake’s face is a constant reminder that she will never have Stefan again.

That seems to be her way of coping… by getting drunk. In fact, most of the time that we have seen her with Chad or at the DiMera mansion, she has been intoxicated.
