When Days of Our Lives John arrived in Salem it was as presumed dead Roman Brady (Josh Taylor). John and Marlena were happy together until Roman returned. Marlena then left John and returned to Roman. Eventually, the two of them had an affair that leads to their daughter Belle. Roman and Marlena divorced and eventually, she and John reunited. Marlena helped to raise John’s son Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) with Isabella Black (Staci Greason).

Since then John has been presumed dead several times. John has died in Marlena’s arms only to return alive and under Stefano’s control. John has been framed for murder and put in the gas chamber. John has been shot and hit by a car. John has been paralyzed and dying having to be taken to another country for treatment. Most recently Stefano Dimera (Stephen Nichols) and Princess Gina (Kristian Alfonso) faked John’s death so that Gina could be with John and Stefano could be with Marlena. How many more times can John Black be killed but not die?

Days of Our Lives Orpheus will kidnap his grandson David Ridgeway (Kaleb and Kyler Ends) and John Black as well. Orpheus has wanted John dead for years. Orpheus holds John responsible for his wife’s death years ago when John was thought to be Roman. Orpheus has known the difference for years but still wants John to pay for his wife’s death. Orpheus will do anything he can to make Marlena pay as well for returning to John and not being the mother his children needed.

Orpheus thought it was okay to take John’s wife in place of his. So both John and Marlena have been presumed dead off and on for years. Will Orpheus kill John this time or is he presumed dead yet again only to return? Marlena will call in reinforcements to help find John and save him from Orpheus but will they get there in time to save his life? Can Hope and Steve beat Orpheus and save John’s life to repay him for trying to separate him and Marlena again?
