DOOL spoilers reveal that Marlena is fully controlled by the devil now. Marlena was able to save John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) life, but she couldn’t stop Satan from holding him hostage. Marlena is also powerless to stop Lucifer from tormenting John, which was in progress when Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) showed up at the DiMera crypt.

In addition to actually being the devil, Marlena dressed the part for Halloween. This has gotten her some reactions, including from Johnny and Belle Brady (Martha Madison).

DOOL Spoilers – Hiding In Plain Sight

In the new issue of Soap Opera Digest, head writer Ron Carlivati discussed the Halloween special. Specifically, the scribe mentioned how Marlena gets to hide in plain sight. “MarDevil” is relishing in the ability to not have to hide on Halloween. Even if it is just for one day, the devil enjoys being able to walk around Salem without worrying about anyone commenting on her glowing eyes or wicked laughter.

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that in the past, the Halloween episodes were mostly either fantasies or dream sequences. As the writing team decided what to do this year, they realized that neither of those was necessary. As Carlivati stated to the magazine, having the devil in Salem beats any fantasy or dream the characters could have.

“Marlena is unleashed. She doesn’t have John looking over her shoulder. It’s Halloween where she can kind of hide in plain sight because everyone’s dressed up.”

It is teased that Marlena will use the terrifying holiday to go to “spooky extremes.” In fact, it is how Marlena comes up with an idea to terrorize the good people of Salem. By resurrecting some of the devil’s old friends. A few of these include Deimos Kiriakis (Vincent Irizarry), Charlie Dale (Mike Manning) and Nick Fallon (Blake Berris). Carlivati teased to SOD,

“… Marlena goes to some very spooky extremes on Halloween to terrorize the residents of Salem. ‘MarDevil’ takes a little stroll through the cemetery and it gives her some wicked ideas about how she might specifically wreak a little havoc on Salem. She decides that it’s time for some old friends to pay a little visit.”
