Ava doesn’t have a problem with the two being friends. The problem is that Rafe and Nicole used to be lovers and Nicole admitted to Ava that she felt more than friendship for her ex. It’s clear that Rafe has those same feelings but can’t admit it. Ava knows the lines can get blurred, so it caused a lot of fights. Nicole discovered she was the reason Rafe and Ava were arguing and chose to walk away from the friendship.

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that during the week of September 13, Rafe will ask Nicole to reconsider. The Salemite misses his friendship with Nicole and his life feels empty without her. Rafe wants her to come back and be his good friend again. However, Nicole will turn down Rafe’s request. It’s not just one friendship that is at risk, but three: Rafe and Ava, Rafe and Nicole, as well as Ava and Nicole.

Even though Nicole has feelings for Rafe, she doesn’t want to be the reason that Ava gets heartbroken. Nicole didn’t feel this way in the beginning, but eventually has realized that Ava deserves a chance to see if Rafe is “the one.”
