The Young And The Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal the return of Leslie Brooks. Portrayed by actress Janice Lynde, this Young And The Restless character became known for her skills as a pianist and her sadly lacking love life.
Find out everything you need to know about how Janice Lynde will impact the Young And The Restless plot below!
The Young And The Restless Welcomes Back Janice Lynde
Janice Lynde last appeared on The Young And The Restless three years ago, per the Soaps network.
But although Lynde’s character Leslie Brooks hasn’t played much of a role on the show since then, we do know that Nikki and Victor viewed Leslie playing the piano during their visit to Summer and Kyle in Italy.
Will Leslie step up to the piano bench to perform at the Newmans’ daughter’s wedding?
Young And The Restless spoilers hint that the wedding of Victoria and her fiancée Ashland could turn into a plot twist. But regardless of what happens, Leslie’s piano skills could keep the guests entertained.
Y&R Spoilers – What To Know About Janice Lynde On Young And The Restless
As for exactly when The Young And The Restless will see the return of Janice Lynde as Leslie Brooks, look for her appearance in the middle of October 2021. That wait may seem annoying to fans of the character.
But perhaps Young And The Restless long-time viewers can spend the time recalling how Janice Lynde first appeared as the original Leslie. She was followed by Victoria Mallory.
Most recently, however, CBS chose Lynde to return to The Young And The Restless in 2018. That year marked the 45th anniversary of The Young And The Restless.
And Janice’s character Leslie Brooks found herself in the company of her greatest rival, Lorie (played by Jaime Lyn Bauer). Lori stands out as one of the very few women who played the game of one-upmanship with Victor Newman (Amelia Heinle) and won!
Janice Lynde Looks Back At Her Young And The Restless Past
Reflecting on how she began her role as Leslie on The Young And The Restless, Janice Lynde told SoapHub that she recalled her very first episode.
In 1973, Lynde had traveled to Los Angeles on a Sunday night from New York. But the actress didn’t get much rest. She began by taping five episodes the very next day!
“John Conboy, the producer, came to New York to get me. [Broadway director] Bob Fosse, whom I was working with, didn’t want me to do it, I remember,” added Janice.
Music plays a key role for both the actress and her character. In that first episode Leslie played piano and sang “The Look Of Love.”
Looking back, Janice theorizes that the song “must have been a favorite of Bill Bell’s (YR’s creator/head writer/senior executive producer) as it was one of Doug (Bill Hayes) and Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) love themes on Days of our Lives, which he’d also written.”
The actress praised Bell’s writing as “so smart and character-driven. He wrote the most beautiful sensory monologue for me after Leslie’s first big concert. I talk about the “cacophony of applause washing over me,” such eloquent words for a young artist to say.”

As a result of her role as a concert pianist on The Young And The Restless, Janice sought to begin her character’s arc by acting “plain and nerdy in the beginning.”
But she grew “into a glamorous concert pianist.” And Lynde gushed about what the opportunity meant to her.
“I hadn’t played [piano] in years until the day I played on YR,” she confessed. “One of the things that made YR such a hit was that the music was elevated. It was so beautiful and classy. Each character had his or her own theme. It changed the face of daytime.”
