Days Of Our Lives alum Tyler Christopher (Stefan O. DiMera) entered the TV acting world in 1996 by taking on the General Hospital role of Nikolas Cassadine. But with fame came challenges.
Find out what the former Days Of Our Lives star shared about starting a new chapter in his life. And discover what Tyler revealed about participating in Maurice Benard’s podcast.
Tyler Christopher – Does His Own Fan Event
After starring on General Hospital and Days Of Our Lives, Tyler Christopher took part in his very own fan event in New York City. And Tyler shared via Digital Journal, “I am only here for 48 hours and I am going to enjoy that time.”
Christopher takes pride in becoming one of three stars to take home the Lead Actor Emmy Award for General Hospital, along with Maurice Benard and Anthony Geary. And Tyler remembered how “winning that Emmy was a good year for me. I thanked everyone in my acceptance speech, especially the people that took me under their wing and mentored me from the very start.”
The Emmy Award-winning actor recalled naming each star who mentored him in his acceptance speech. “I singled out each one of them. These included Anthony Geary, Genie Francis, Stephen Nichols, and Jonathan Jackson, who was very young at the time. I used to spend a lot of time with Jonathan Jackson and his family, which was ironic and unique because I was so much older.”

Tyler Christopher – Calls Himself ‘Old School’
As for looking ahead, Christopher hopes that AI doesn’t hurt the entertainment business. And he added, “If it interferes with production, I hope it doesn’t happen. I have been doing this for 30 years, I got in ‘General Hospital’ back in 1996, so it’s coming up on 30 years. I like the way things used to be done. I’m very old school. That’s how I learned, that’s how things used to be done. It is difficult for me to go out of the normal,” admitted Tyler.
But Christopher also revealed his secret to acting. And he summed up his approach with the statement, “Don’t hold back.” That motto helps him to perform scenes that seem challenging. “That’s how I approach my work and when I am doing scenes, especially when they are difficult to perform. I trust my instincts, I don’t hold back and that gets me through it. This allows me to take chances in my scenes,” added the actor.
Maurice Benard – Takes Podcast ‘Very Seriously’
And Christopher also reflected on participating in Maurice Benard’s MB “State of Mind” podcast, calling it an honor. “I was honored that Maurice asked me to do it,” he revealed. “For Maurice, it is very personal and he takes it very seriously. When you go on there, you have to be truthful or you are going to look foolish. I decided to be very honest, truthful, transparent, and very real. I would love to someday do a follow-up.”
As for his next step, Christopher feels that he has begun “a new chapter in my life.” And he defines success as “going to work every day and making sure that you realize how grateful you are.” But he also shared his appreciation for his fans, noting, “I am so grateful to have gone on this journey with the fans. At the end of the day, the show and the work, is not about you… it is about the fans… You perform for the fans, not yourself.”
