General Hospital spoilers reveal Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) is about to hand Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) the shock of her life — in a little velvet box. We can ponder that Carly’s ring might be a competitor for Nina’s, but there is no denying that Carly’s engagement to Drew will receive far more acclaim than Nina and Sonny’s has.

Even Nina’s own best friend, Ava Jerome (Maura West), didn’t seem to think it was a good idea for Nina to enter into a marriage with Sonny when her relationship is a ticking time bomb certain to explode. Instead, Nina has decided she will continue to dig the hole deeper. Ava prays she makes it to China with that shovel. That might be the only place she’s safe from Sonny’s wrath when he finds out.

It’s not going to be lost on Drew that Carly refused to turn Sonny in to the Justice Department in exchange for the charges against her and Drew being dropped, but she’s willing to turn on Drew. Still, he loves her, albeit blindly.

Meanwhile, as Carly and Drew try to weigh their options, Sonny will be gearing up for his wedding to Nina while still pressuring Carly to turn him instead of Drew. Why is Sonny being such a martyr?

Does he think he earns some kind of brownie points with his ex by going to prison for the rest of his life instead of letting Drew do a few years’ time? If Drew is the one who is going away, and not Carly, isn’t his problem solved?

The mother of his children won’t be taken away from him, and neither will their father. That’s a win-win, right? So why is Sonny still trying to be Carly’s hero? That bit isn’t going to be lost on Nina.
