General Hospital Spoilers: Laura Regrets Taking Esme’s Side Against Spencer — And Takes It Out On Nikolas

General Hospital spoilers claim Laura Collins (Genie Francis) couldn’t have been any more blind to what was really going on with Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl). What took Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) a mere moment to figure out couldn’t be impressed upon his grandmother when she heard he had forked Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) over to Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) behind Esme’s back.

While the truth about Esme coming to light won’t absolve Spencer of this misdeed in her eyes, his death will go a long way in making her see everything differently.

Laura is going to feel horrible about the way she left things with Spencer before he headed off to Paris thinking she was so disappointed in him. When she gets the chance to rekindle her mother-son relationship with Nikolas, she will struggle not to blame him for her own missteps along the way.

General Hospital Spoilers — Blind As A Bat

Laura is typically not the type to take to self-loathing or kicking herself while she’s down. But this time around, she’ll be holding herself accountable — emotionally — for how she treated Spencer when he was right all along.

General Hospital Spoilers: Laura Regrets Taking Esme's Side Against Spencer — And Takes It Out On Nikolas

He never learned to truly trust Esme, and always suspected the new and improved version of her was too good to be true, even if he could admit she was a good mother to his baby brother.

As they say, hindsight is 20/20, and now Laura will be overwhelmed with regret and guilt that she treated Spencer with such disdain the last time she saw him.

GH Spoilers – Leak Fresh Wounds Abound

When Nikolas comes back to town — no longer afraid of persecution because Esme is toast — it’ll dawn on Laura all over again how much of a coward her son is. He’s still the same man who let everyone think he was dead for four years while he chased down money he felt was owed to him.

He’s still the same man who held a pregnant woman hostage, cheated on his wife with his son’s teenage girlfriend, and fled the country without so much as a goodbye to his mother and son just to protect himself from being held responsible for his illegal actions.

It won’t be easy for Laura to overlook all of Nikolas’ shortcomings, but she will be grateful that Ace still has him, when he’s already lost so much.

General Hospital Spoilers — Lashing Out

Laura may not realize it right away, but she’ll suffer some serious consequences in the wake of Spencer’s death.

Not only will she blame herself for not seeing the truth about Esme sooner, but she’ll blame Nikolas for coming home and putting Spencer in the position that he did.

Had he stayed away, Spencer and Esme would both be alive. Sure, she might have been regaining her memories and becoming a bigger threat, but that was nothing to deal with compared to losing them both.

Ace no longer has his mother and never will, and his big brother — the only father figure he’s really ever known — is dead.

Laura has lost the surrogate son she found in his grandson, who was finally finding his way and becoming a good man, much thanks to Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali).

Nothing would be this way if Nikolas hadn’t felt entitled to come home and take the baby boy he abandoned, preying on Spencer’s feelings at the time and putting him in this position to make an enemy out of Esme again.

It looks like a bumpy road ahead for Nikolas and Laura. Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers, right here, every day.
