General Hospital spoilers suggest that many would’ve loved to see Maxie’s reaction when she realized that Cassius was not who he claimed to be.
Especially since her son, James West (Gary James Fuller), had gotten so close to fake Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), so quickly.
Unfortunately, Kirsten Storms has dealt with a tremendous number of personal issues lately, which have prevented her from returning to work on the GH set.
As such, during the bombshell reveal about Cassius, Maxie, Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), Georgie Spinelli (Lily Fisher), and Bailey Louise Jones (Miley and Riley Plonski) were away on vacation.

James decided to stay in Port Charles as he didn’t want to leave his ‘dad’ and focus on his little league baseball games.
Thankfully, James’ uncle, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly), was there when James learned that “Nathan” was going away.
In the aftermath of this all, the WSB has pronounced Cassius as dead, even though fans know he’s very much alive.
Still, what happens next, with Maxie, Spinelli, and the family, now that the ‘fake Nathan’ storyline is over?

While a Maxie recast could be in the works, it doesn’t sound like this will happen anytime soon.
In light of the ‘fake Nathan’ reveal, she and the family could decide they need a break from Port Charles, even just for James’ sake. It may not be a permanent thing, but it might even just be for the rest of the summer.
Until GH writers figure out what to do with Maxie, as there is always a chance Storms could return to work, the show may have figured out a way to provide a replacement for her.
Summer spoilers suggest someone will be on hand to fill Maxie’s void at Deception, at the very least.
Battle For Deception
As fans know, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) is trying to reclaim her stake at the company, and all arrows are pointing to her bringing in her surrogate daughter, Serena Baldwin (Kelly Kruger), to lend a hand.
It also sounds like Serena will be her “right-hand” woman when it comes to Deception, and the power struggle she’s about to face where Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) is concerned.
It’ll be mother and daughter versus grandmother and granddaughter – Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) – as they fight to see who will gain control of the cosmetics and skincare company.
Bringing Serena in as a new character to mix things up might be a better choice than jumping the gun and recasting Maxie.
While fans miss the character, only time will tell if she’ll return to the canvas and what she’ll be up to next.
