With his father’s Alzheimer’s condition continuing to worsen by the day, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was left with no choice but to have Mike Corbin (Max Gail) admitted to a facility where he would receive long-term professional care. His illness has progressed and has made him violent and unpredictable.
Sonny wants only the best for his father and so he decided to place him in long-term care. Mike Corbin, played by Max Gail, left the Corinthos compound and is now a resident at Turning Woods. Does this mean GH fans also have to say goodbye to Mike?
Although it seems like Mike’s Alzheimer’s storyline is about to come to an end, he still has a lot of unresolved affairs. Having said that, it’s safe to say that Mike isn’t leaving the soap any time soon.

Let’s take for example his relationship with his married girlfriend Yvonne Godfrey, portrayed by Janet Hubert. Mike’s full-time stay at the Alzheimer’s facility may not sit well with Yvonne’s husband, Marcus Godfrey (Nigel Gibbs). Even though Marcus seem to be getting much closer with his past love, Stella Henries, (Vernee Watson-Johnson) viewers still have to wait and see if he has reached a point where he’s willing to accept that he and Yvonne are done. If that happens, Marcus and Stella might have the chance to continue their love story from 30 years ago.
Mike’s worsening condition is also taking a toll on those who are closest to him especially Sonny and Carly Corinthos. (Laura Wright) As he becomes more violent and unpredictable, he’s also starting to slip away. Carly has always been there for Mike and seeing him in his current state breaks her heart. GH fans can only hope that before Mike forgets everything, maybe he can offer his children some words of comfort.
Mike and his family are going through a lot right now. Even though he’s no longer staying in their mansion, that doesn’t mean his permanently out of the picture and for sure, he’s not yet ready to say his final goodbyes.

Yes, I love the acting. He is playing his part to the tee. I feel badly for the character tho. I am glad he is staying a while longer before he gets on with his retirement plans. Love him and he did a great job and also Sonny did to. I cried alot but it was worth it. <3
Yes I love his character, and Max Gail’s acting has been great!
Mike’s story has been heartwarming and a wonderful distraction from the other storylines on GH at this time. Although Mike’s is a real life story, I believe it may have helped viewers who are facing the same situation of how to handle a family member with Mike’s illness. We the viewers realize an ending has to come, but it is nice that the writers are extending this story through leaving a home setting to a professional one which has to be done in real life. Max Gail’s and Maurice Bernard’s interaction is so believeable. The only thing that took away from this storyline in my opinion is the (Corton?) gun mess. Otherwise, I applaud the writers for their handling of this storyline which I haven’t done much in recent years. Thanks again, for a wonderful story portrayed by great actors.
