General Hospital spoilers reveal Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is pretty happy with the direction his life is going in. Sure, his feelings creep up on him from time to time and remind him he misses his ex-wife, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) — especially when he has to see her moving on with someone else.

Still, General he believes Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) is a good woman, and he is enjoying the casual pace of their relationship. Too bad Nina is itching for things to speed up already. She’s so insecure about her role in Sonny’s life and competing with the memory of Carly, that she’s praying he’ll make her his Mrs. sooner rather than later. Yeah, that’ll solve all their problems!

Thanksgiving brought diamond earrings, but that’s hardly something Nina can throw in Carly’s face. She wants a stronger commitment from Sonny — something that screams, “there’s no one else for me.” In her heart of hearts, she already knows Sonny will never see her the way he saw and continues to look at Carly. He shared so many years with Carly, and built a family and empire with her. Nina is going to hold out hope that Sonny will pop the question, but it will not happen this Christmas like she’s wishing.

They struggled with the diagnosis of spina bifida that required surgery as a newborn for their daughter, Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Brielle).

They’ve endured cheating, making up, and some would say they generally break up just to get back to said making up. Sonny may pretend he’s still a positive and free-loving guy like “Mike” was, but he enjoys reveling in the sorrows of his life and feeling everything to the fullest, too — even when it’s heart wrenching. The spirited love affair he’s currently enjoying with Nina just can’t hold a candle to the trauma bonds he shares with his ex-wife.
