General Hospital Spoilers: Tensions Run high – Nikolas Ignores Sonny’s Orders, Spencer In Danger?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) lives by a code of ethics, which he’s willing to defend at all costs. Apparently, looking out for kids whose fathers have abandoned them is part of that code. GH fans know that Sonny recently warned off Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) from having contact with his own son!

GH fans might be wondering where Sonny’s latest actions originate. Viewers watched as Nikolas Cassadine arrived at Sonny’s house along with his erstwhile wife, Ava Cassadine (Maura West). As everyone saw, Sonny was barely civil. In fact, Sonny insisted that Nikolas stay a while after Ava had taken Avery Jerome-Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) off to Violet Finn’s (Jophielle Love) birthday party. Once Ava and Avery had exited, Nikolas saw himself on the defense.

Sonny went to town on Nikolas, castigating him for his actions vis-à-vis his son, Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel). However, to many GH fans, Sonny’s behavior really seemed to come out of the left field. For months, GH viewers have watched as Sonny has dealt with the threat of Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), the threat of Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier), and the health of his father, Mike Corbin (Max Gail).
How did the young Cassadine fit into any of this?

Well, apparently Spencer calls to talk with Sonny on a regular basis. Sonny, therefore, seems to be getting a bit attached to the kid. Moreover, Sonny’s acting as what amounts to a father figure in Spencer’s life. Now, why is that important? Its importance lies in the fact that Nikolas abandoned Spencer and allowed his son to believe he was dead for over three years!

Guess which other GH character was abandoned by his father? That would be Sonny Corinthos. His own latent fury against Mike seems to be manifesting itself in his outright disgust with Nikolas Cassadine.

GH Spoilers – Nikolas Cassadine Has Plenty Of Excuses

GH fans know that the “Good Cassadine” went to Paris once he thought it was safe. There, together with Ava, Nikolas revealed to Spencer that he was still alive. However, the meeting didn’t go as well as Nikolas had hoped. Nikolas was beside himself with anger. (And no wonder.) The child accused Nikolas of being no better than Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), and then told his father to “stay the hell away from him.”

Of course, to Sonny and to everyone else (perhaps especially to himself), Nikolas has a million excuses for his behavior. Nikolas merely wanted to keep his son safe! Nikolas had to get his fortune back. He could allow no one, not even Spencer to know that he was alive. Doing so might have jeopardized not only Nikolas’s plans but also Spencer’s very life!

As GH viewers know, however, Sonny wasn’t buying anything Nikolas tried to sell.

General Hospital Spoilers – Nikolas Cassadine Won’t Be Told What To Do

In the midst of Sonny’s fury, the Mafioso warned Nikolas in no uncertain terms to stay out of Spencer’s life. Sonny believes Nikolas is a bad influence on his son and any contact would only serve to hurt the young Cassadine even more than he’s been hurt already. Now, Sonny believes Nikolas is a coward who will ultimately tremble and run away with his tail between his legs. Sonny’s threat was implicit. If Nikolas defies him, Sonny will get involved. Whether that means doing something to hurt Nikolas or kill him outright … that wasn’t so clear. Yet Nikolas now knows that whatever Sonny intends, it can’t be good for his health.

With that said, while Sonny might be underestimating the Prince of Nothing. Sonny might be all proud of his code of ethics, and he might be full of bravado, but Nikolas certainly isn’t above getting his hands dirty. It’s clear that Sonny has made himself a threat to Nikolas’s plans to bring Spencer back into his life.

The questions GH viewers must now have on their minds is how Nikolas might defy Sonny, and when. That’s because it’s highly doubtful that Nikolas will allow anyone to interfere with his plans and get away with it.
