General Hospital spoilers gush Ava Jerome (Maura West) has been shacking up with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) out of precaution for her safety, and for Avery Corinthos’ (Grace Scarola) protection as well.

Ava has made herself at home in the penthouse, even in the wake of Nina Reeves Corinthos’ (Cynthia Watros) exit. But fans are starting to sense that there is a bit more than friendship and co-parenting happening between Ava and Sonny.

While only time will tell what transpires between these two, we’re banking on the adrenaline rush of knowing their lives are in danger bringing them closer together than ever before. Here are just a few reasons why we see Sonny and Ava hooking up — and possibly settling down.

Sonny sure does relish any opportunity to play the hero in a woman’s life, and Ava is no exception to that rule.

When Nina relayed to Sonny that someone was threatening Ava and had even broken into her home, Sonny didn’t just jump to move Avery into his place — he brought her mother along, too.

Little did he know at that time what kind of ally Ava would end up being, and how much he would come to need her. Now, he has a golden opportunity to keep them both safe, and he’s determined not to fail.

Ava is more than appreciative of Sonny’s kind gesture, and she’s quite taken by the new friendship they’ve formed.

In fact, she’s so pleased with Sonny’s open arms that she just might find herself inside of them soon.

When Nina came to Ava asking for her help getting herself and Sonny in the same place long enough for her to have a conversation with him, Ava made it clear she wasn’t going to stick her nose into their business — because Sonny wouldn’t appreciate that.

It was obvious that Ava had picked which team she was on, and it has a lot more to do with how she’s coming to feel about Sonny than it is that she needs to rely on him for her safety.

General Hospital Spoilers — One Is The Loneliest Number

Last but not least, Sonny and Ava both have a knack for finding someone to keep them company — even if it’s just in between other somebodies.

Rumor has it Sonny’s introduction of Ava back into the fibers of the mob just might make her long for belonging to the underbelly of Port Charles again. Wouldn’t she make a fine mob wife?

Sonny is at peace with his decision to end his marriage to Nina, but that doesn’t mean he’s finding it comfortable sleeping alone at night.

Sure, the hunt for the shooter who tried to take him out twice now is keeping his mind preoccupied, but soon, he’ll give way to the same undercurrent of passion he’s always carting around with him. Will that escapade be with Ava?
