In A Royal Christmas Ball Chelsea Jones (McKellar) is a dance instructor and studio owner in Chicago. She loves to inspire kids to find themselves through dance.

However, shortly before the holidays, Chelsea finds a photo she has never seen before. She believes the young woman in the photo is her birth mother, who passed away when she was only five years old.

In the photo, the woman is wearing a wedding dress while reaching for the hand of a man wearing a wedding ring. However, that is all that can be seen of the man Chelsea believes may be her father. Moreover, the photo has a handwritten inscription reading, “Our place, Havenshire, December 23, 1984.”

With only the Internet to help her, a plane ticket and a lifelong determination, Chelsea now has four days in Havenshire to try to solve the mystery of her birth family. Along the way, she sneaks into a castle, teaches a stubborn Prince how to dance, and might be in just the perfect place on Christmas Eve when the bells toll.
