Hallmark Channel News – ‘A Christmas Star’ Looks For Life Beyond Earth But Finds Love
Ever gazed up at the sky and wondered if someone or something might be looking back at you from another planet? In the new GAC Family Channel holiday film, “A Christmas Star,” we meet an astronomer who seeks to locate something significant in outer space. But love rather than an extraterrestrial event changes her life, reports Parade.
Meet astronomer Madeline Baggett, portrayed by Sara Canning. After devoting her career to finding life forms in the sky, Madeline achieves an “aha!” moment. So the astronomer persuades her manager to let her go to upstate New York. Can her risk pay off in a fabulous finding?
Madeline takes her telescopes and other astronomical equipment to Summit Ridge. And this career woman discovers humans rather than extraterrestrial creatures who could change her life in that community. Widowed national park ranger Ryan Sparks (Daniel Lissing) and his child Celeste enjoy a Close Encounter Of the Life-Changing Kind with Madeline. Ryan guides the astronomer in charting the celestial event. But love turns out to win as the most significant event for the pair.
Discover Familiar Faces In ‘A Christmas Star’ Cast!
Sara Canning, who plays astronomer Madeline, achieved star power through roles in “The Vampire Diaries,” “Primeval: New World,” and “Remedy.” In addition, Sara appeared in “9-1-1” and “Big Sky” as a guest star. But Canning’s leading man might win as the most familiar face in the “A Christmas Star” cast.
Portraying widowed national park ranger Ryan, Daniel Lissing won as a fan favorite for five seasons on “When Calls The Heart.” Ranking as the Hallmark Channel’s most lengthy original series, “When Calls The Heart” featured Lissing as Mountie Jack Thornton. In addition, Daniel reprised his role on the spin-off series, “When Hope Calls.” Lissing also took on featured roles in ABC’s military drama, “Last Resort” and “The Rookie.”

We don't have the GAC Family channel in Canada so missed the shows with Daniel Lissing and Lori Loughlin. I would love to see them on When Calls The Heart again with Erin. If anyone knows where we Canadians can see these shows then please comment. Thanks.
