Also in common, the women married into the crème de la crème of royalty: Princess Charlene’s mother in law was the late Hollywood powerhouse Grace Kelly and Kate Middleton’s grandmother in law is the one and only Queen Elizabeth.

Royal Family News – Kate Middleton and Princess Charlene Are Both Athletes

Princess Charlene and Kate Middleton are both superior athletes and, get this, went official at sporting events. Prince William and Middleton went official during a ski trip in Klosters, Switzerland in April 2004. Princess Charlene’s was Prince Albert’s date to the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics showing the principality that they were serious.

Royal Family News – Charlene Is An Olympian

Charlene is the daughter of a former competitive diver and swim coach which goes a long way toward explaining her Olympic success. She began accruing awards and titles by age 15 and she won a spot on the 2000 Summer Olympics swim team. She was one a select few who swam on the women’s 4×100 medley team for South Africa.

Kate Middleton is not a professional athlete but she is a serious and dedicated amateur. She is adept at field hockey and tennis and crowned the “sportiest royal” by Town & Country.

They say that clothes make the man, but in this case clothes caught the eye of the man! Kate Middleton caught Prince William’s eye at a fashion show. Pictures from that day show a sultry Kate walking in a see through dress, with bits of cloth strategically placed. Princess Charlene met Prince Albert after a swim meet in Monaco in 2000, and there Charlene won a medal and the heart of a prince.

Kate and Charlene Have Tons in Common

Appropriately enough, both ladies have a keen interest in fashion. A poll conducted by Fashion Retail Academy in London announced that Kate the Duchess of Cambridge was the most stylish royal.

And, Princess Charlene told Vogue in 2011 that she wants to, “make Monaco one of the fashion capitals of the world.” Her fashion sense is a bit more bold than Kate’s—in 2020, she shaved head!
