Hallmark spoilers and updates reveal former Bold and the Beautiful star Kim Matula’s Christmas holiday is truly going to the dogs! She stars in a new Christmas themed movie called “The Finnish Line” where she learned to work with sled dogs!
Hallmark Spoilers – An Adventure Rom-Com
The Hallmark Channel’s The Finnish Line can be aptly termed an “adventure rom-com,” as Matula had to master a few stunts upon her arrival on set in Iceland and Finland.
She portrays Anya, a woman determined to honor her father’s dog-sledding legacy by competing against his fiercest rival-and Anya might just stumble upon love during her journey.
While dog sledding in the Arctic Circle may not be a common aspiration for many, Matula embraced the challenge wholeheartedly, with dogged determination.
“Isn’t that wild? They approached me and said, ‘Hey, do you want to do this movie? You need to be a dog sledder.” “I thought, ‘I can handle that,’” she reminisces, fully committed to the adventure!
Hallmark Spoilers – Kim Matula Used Gymnastic Skills
Matula credits her gymnastics background from “many, many, many moons ago” for the balance skills essential in dog sledding, noting that the sport felt quite instinctive to her.
However, there’s an old adage in Hollywood advising against working with animals or children, and in The Finnish Line, the dogs certainly stole the spotlight.
Matula acknowledges a challenge in collaborating with the dogs, who lacked the training that Hollywood animals typically receive. “The toughest part for the dogs was that after we hooked them up to the sled, we had to go through a lot of dialogue before we could actually start racing.”
She explains, “That was really challenging for the sled dogs, who were very restless and excited because they were eager to run.”
Hallmark Spoilers – Kim Matula Worried About Her Furry Castmates
It wasn’t just a challenge for her beloved castmates; Matula also felt a wave of stress as she worried about their happiness. “I was constantly anxious, thinking, ‘Oh my God, are they alright?
Are they enjoying themselves-they want to run, but we can’t let them yet. Oh my gosh,'” she shares.
On a brighter note, her phone is packed with snapshots of her “puppy paradise,” ensuring that Matula will always have delightful memories of her furry companions in the snowy landscape.
All in all, she had a great time making the movie, and undoubtedly made at-work pets of the dogs! If you missed the premiere, don’t worry—there are three more opportunities to catch it: Tuesday, 12/3 at 6 PM, Saturday, 12/7 at 12 PM, and Thursday, 12/12 at 10 PM on the Hallmark Channel.
