Chesapeake Shores Season 5 New Trailer Teases Love Triangle

The Hallmark Channel has released a new trailer for season 5 of Chesapeake Shores and fans will be surprised to see that it is hinting at a new love triangle. After the endless love triangle on When Calls the Heart, they probably won’t be sure what to think about this.

Chesapeake Shores Season 5  – Trailer Teases That Abby May Have A Choice

In the new trailer released by Hallmark, it looks like Abby might have to choose between two lovers. With Jesse Metcalfe leaving Chesapeake Shores, this will likely lead to the end of Trace and Abby’s love story. Fans are no doubt wondering what is in store for Meghan Ory’s character in the new season. However, viewing the trailer makes it look like she will have her own love triangle (or is it quadrangle?) in the new season.

Fans will recall that the end of season 4 of Chesapeake Shores revealed Abby kissing Trace after a whole season apart. However, the start of the clip makes it clear that sparks are flying between Abby and Jay Ross (Greyston Holt). Previously Abby had explored potential sparks with Jay, but it seemed she and Trace was the more ideal match. Now, to confuse matters, the trailer makes it look like she and Jay might still have a chance together.

Chesapeake Shores Season 5  – ‘School Activity’ On The beach

In one scene of the video, Jay tells Abby that he hopes he gets to spend the day with Abby and the girls at the beach. She responds that she doesn’t think this is a good idea. Meanwhile, Jay jokingly tells her, “It’s a school activity, not a date,” which makes Abby laugh.

However, another scene reveals a new character, Evan McKenzie (Robert Buckley) interacting with Abby. It starts with him telling him he has decided to go ahead with the build “on one condition.” He wants her to ride point on the project. Meanwhile, later in the trailer the pair is seen at a mini-golf course. Abby asks him if he enjoys playing the role of an eccentric millionaire, to which he replies, “Billionaire.”

This leads to Abby asking her father, “Who comes next?” as the footage reveals Jay, Evan and Trace in succession. Talk about a teaser!

Chesapeake Shores Season 5  – New Showrunner For Chesapeake Shores

The Hallmark series was previously led by showrunner John Tinker, but he has now moved over to When Calls the Heart. According to TVLine, Emmy-award winner Phoef Sutton is now taking over as the showrunner for Chesapeake Shores. It will be interesting to see where Sutton takes the popular series.
Season 5 of Chesapeake Shores debuts on August 15 and will have 10 episodes. Readers can watch the new trailer here.
