The Show Is Based On the K.J. Dell’Antonia Novel

The show featuring two competing chicken restaurants in the quirky town of Merinac is returning for more chicken rivalries and a wedding!

It is inspired by K.J. Dell’Antonia’s novel of the same name and stars Lea Thompson (Nancy Hiller), Wendie Malick (Augusta “Gus” Moore), Schuyler Fisk (Amanda Moore), and Genevieve Angelson (Mae Moore).

The announcement also reveals a new cast member, a fresh showrunner, and some exciting plot details for fans.

Filming began on Monday as Amanda, Mae, Nancy, and Gus work to make The Chicken Sisters restaurant thrive.

Meanwhile, Frank Jr. (James Kot) is still on Main Street, but now he’s involved with a new competitor, Mr. Chicken Cluckery; what challenges will arise from this latest chicken restaurant rivalry?

A New Hot Hunk Added To The Cast

In this season, Mae and Jay (Samer Salem) are preparing for a significant wedding; “Viewers will witness the Moore-Hillier women overcoming challenges, emphasizing that family is the ultimate treasure worth fighting for.”

This is just the beginning, as Amanda might be facing a divorce, and Gus is struggling with health concerns. Along with the announcement of The Chicken Sisters Season 2, HMK revealed that JAG star David James Elliott will join as a recurring character from Gus’ past.

Additionally, there will be a change in the showrunner for the second season; Erin Gibson has been elevated from the writing team to showrunner and executive producer.

Season 2 of The Chicken Sisters is set to debut in late 2025 on the Hallmark Channel, although the exact date has not yet been released.

Following its premiere, the series will be available for streaming on Hallmark+ the next day, and Peacock for up to 72 hours after they air.
