Hallmark Channel Celebrates Summer Nights Finale With ‘Sweet Pecan Summer’

The Hallmark Channel has treated us throughout the summer to films ranging from sweetly romantic to the dark side of love. 

And now, as we get closer to autumn, Hallmark decided to celebrate its Summer Nights film run finale by giving us what might just rank number one on our list of summer movie favorites.

Hallmark Channel – Who Stars In ‘Sweet Pecan Summer’?

We know that the cast of a movie can make it or break it.  And so to wrap up its Summer Nights schedule, Hallmark selected not just one but TWO of fans’ favorite stars to star in its finale, “Sweet Pecan Summer.”

The cast features Wes Brown and Christine Ko.   Long-time Hallmark Channel viewers will recognize Wes from “Graceland,” “Love’s Resounding Courage,” “Christmas Cookies,” and “Love Under the Stars.”

In addition, Brown has starred on “True Blood” and “Deception.” And he doesn’t limit his talents to acting. 

Wes penned the story on which the “Sweet Pecan Summer” plot is based! Accordingly, the actor also put on the hat of executive producer for the Hallmark film.

So what actress can hold her own against Brown? Bring on Christine Ko, whose acting history includes “Dave” and “Tigertail.” In addition, Ko starred in “Relationship Status.”  Also starring is Lauren Tom, who starred in “The Joy Luck Club” and “Supernatural.”

Hallmark Channel – What Happens In ‘Sweet Pecan Summer’?

Of course, the best cast in the world can’t carry a plot that’s unbelievable or (even worse) downright boring!   But Hallmark created a winner in “Sweet Pecan Summer” by giving us a plot worthy of its stars.

Without giving away too much, we can reveal that the plot introduces us to a woman named Amanda (played by Christine Ko).

Amanda holds a position in a big cosmetic company’s product development group.  But she feels challenged because this company wants to produce only already proven products. That means Amanda’s cleverest ideas get tossed.

As a result of that work situation, Amanda feels frustrated.  So when her beloved Aunt Carol (portrayed by Lauren Tom) tells her she’s selling her pecan farm, Amanda decides to travel there to assist.

But when she arrives, Amanda discovers that Aunt Carol has decided to play matchmaker by hiring her ex-boyfriend, J.P. (played by Wes Brown) as the real estate broker!

At first, J.P. and Amanda clash.  But time has a way of healing, and Amanda and J.P. find themselves reconnecting.
