Hallmark Channel To Adapt The Chicken Sisters As Series

Hallmark Channel has had much success with its original series, including When Calls the Heart, The Way Home, and more. Now, a brand new series is heading to the feel-good channel, based on the 2020 novel “The Chicken Sisters,” written by K.J.

Dell’Antonia. Starring Schuyler Fisk, Genevieve Angelson, Lea Thompson, and Wendie Malick. Meanwhile, Annie Mebane is the showrunner of the series and executive producer of the eight episodes.

New Hallmark Channel series The Chicken Sisters

The Chicken Sisters is a family drama, set in the fictional town of Merinac. Here, a generations-old rift continues between two fried chicken restaurants, Mimi’s and Frannie’s.

This has left the founders’ families fractured, while locals in the town started taking sides. However, when a popular cooking show comes to town, things get even more complicated as sparks begin to fly and secrets are uncovered.

Where have you seen the cast before?

The Chicken Sisters stars Wendie Malick, known for her roles in The Emperor’s New Groove and The American President. Lea Thompson is a familiar face from Back to the Future and Switched at Birth.

Meanwhile, Genevieve Angelson also stars and has previously been seen in The Upside and Beasts of the Southern Wild. As for Schuyler Fisk, she has previously starred in Restless and Orange County.

Meanwhile, Mebane also spoke of the series, saying, “When I read ‘The Chicken Sisters’ by KJ Dell’Antonia, I fell in love with these characters. On the surface, the show is about two restaurants competing on a reality show, but it’s about the baggage we pass down through the generations and learning to unpack it.

I love telling this multigenerational story focused on women: their frustrations, their desires, and ultimately, their healing. We’ve assembled an incredible cast, and we can’t wait to welcome audiences to Merinac.”

Currently, it is early days so no official premiere date has been announced for The Chicken Sisters on Hallmark Channel.
