Hallmark Spoilers – Media Expands Talent Tool

On Tuesday, February 6, Lisa Hamilton Daly, the Hallmark Media EVP of Programming at the TCA Panels, spoke to Variety. The network stalled with a multi-picture deal.

The reason for this is that they’re expanding their talent pool. Daly was asked about Hallmark Media’s “exclusivity deals” and noted they are “very important” for competing networks like Great American Media.

“Where does Hallmark stand with that?” Variety asked Daly. She responded, “We have actually backed off exclusivity a little bit.” She revealed what happened when she joined the network in late 2021.

“When I got here, we were sort of on a talent exclusivity spree, and I think we’ve backed away from that, partly because we like our talent to be a lot of other places too,” Daly said. “We like people to be able to find them in other places and be excited to come back and see them here.”

That’s when Daly teased that they’re looking to “expand our talent pool.” This will include “getting people for a one-off movie.” She admitted that this change has been “really exciting for us.” The network won’t abandon its original actors and fan favorites.

“We definitely have some of those core Hallmark favorites. They know that they have a place here and that they’re gonna get a Christmas movie, and then maybe another movie and we definitely lean into that,” Daly said. “But we’ve sort of backed away from exclusivity.”

Hallmark Spoilers – Focusing On Hallmark Hunks

Lisa Hamilton Daly noted that many of their fan favorites are working on other projects outside of the network. They could return to film a Christmas movie or Hallmark Mystery.

This makes it easier for them to work with the network while pursuing other projects. This is also pleasing for fans who enjoy the Hallmark hunks.

Luke Macfarlane will star in the Christmas film Catch Me If You Claus. He will also star in the mystery film Crime Time: Freefall. Meanwhile, he acts on the AppleTV+ series Platonic.

This flexibility allowed Macfarlane to star in and executive produce the Lifetime movie Amish Stud: The Eli Weaver Story.
