Hallmark Star Gilles Marini On His Greek Heritage And New Mystery Movie

Gilles Marini opens up on his Greek heritage and his new Hallmark movie, premiering on March 15, 2024. According to the actor, he has wanted to star in a Hallmark movie for a long time.

Actor Gilles Marini stars alongside Brooke D’Orsay in the upcoming movie, Crimes of Fashion: Killer Clutch which is set to premiere on March 15, 2024.

Speaking to Greek News USA, Marini, who plays the role of a French detective, André Duvreuil, spoke of his excitement about the movie, saying:

I am so excited about this movie. I’ve wanted to work with Hallmark for a very long time. Our director Felipe Rodrigez was phenomenal. I cannot wait for everybody to see it.

Marini continued saying, “This film was a riot. I think it’s a fun movie that viewers are going to want to see more of,” adding, “I cannot wait for March 15th. Don’t forget to set your DVR for ‘Crimes of Fashion’ on the Hallmark Channel at 9 pm.”

Marini on his Greek heritage

It turns out it was apt for the Hallmark actor to play a French detective, as he was born in France, but also has Greek roots. Marini’s mother, Franca, is half-Greek and is a native of Athens, Greece.

Gilles opened up on his family past, saying his mother’s family name is Galises, adding:

I just hung up the phone with my ‘Greek heritage,’ who is also known as my mom. I talk to her every day… is it healthy? I don’t know, but once she’s gone, I won’t be able to speak to her ever again.

Marini went on to explain that “every single morning” when he wakes up, he calls his mother. He added that they are both addicted to speaking to each other to make the family better every day, saying, “We’ve been doing that regularly for the last 10 years,” and adding:

My mother is a strong woman, and she is my Greek heritage. She is a Greek goddess, for sure. Even if she is 100 percent wrong, I always say ‘yes, mom.’ I love it.

On that note, Marini revealed that family is everything to him, adding that he is the proud husband of Carole and father to their children, Georges and Juliana.

Previous roles by the new Hallmark star

Before filming for Hallmark Mystery, Gilles Marini was a series regular on Brothers and Sisters and Switched at Birth. The actor also had recurring roles in Teen Wolf, Castle, Two Broke Girls, Devious Maids, Dare Devil and Modern Family.

Meanwhile, Marini’s latest acting credits are for Black Beauty, Uncoupled, The Rookie, Grey’s Anatomy and Dollface.
