According to the official Hallmark synopsis, ‘Tis the Season to be Merry tells the story of Merry (Rachael Leigh Cook), a successful dating advice writer and influencer living in Boston. However, despite her widely shared rules for dating, Merry has yet to find love for herself. She decides to write a book based on her real-life experiences with love. However, she unintentionally includes a fictional, perfect fiancé named Dale that her publisher Sonia (White), believes to be real.

Merry decides to head home to snowy Vermont with her best friend Darlene (Amy Groening). She needs to figure out how she can come clean to her publisher before the book is published and her reputation ruined by a lie. However, Merry soon runs into Darlene’s brother, Adam (Travis Van Winkle) leading to sparks flying.

Both Merry and Adam have very different views on what it takes for two people to fall in love. However, they soon realize that, despite how incompatible they seem on paper, they are falling for each other.

As Christmas approaches, Merry discovers that she can let go of some of her rules for love. Meanwhile, for his part, Adam realizes there is plenty of room in his heart to try again. Even better, when Merry decides to take a chance on her feelings for Adam, she also finds the perfect solution to her problem with her book.
