When Hope Calls

Fans have already enjoyed season 1 of the When Calls the Heart spinoff, a historical drama series set in 1916 in the fictional, small Western prairie town of Brookfield. The town consists of mainly cattle ranchers and farmers and the story is set in an era where tradition sometimes conflicts with the ambitions of a growing city.

When Hope Calls – A Country Christmas

The first season of When Hope Calls aired on the Hallmark Channel’s streaming service, Hallmark Movies Now. Following its debut, the spinoff also featured on the Hallmark Channel where the premiere attracted an average of 2 million viewers. However, Season 2 will be the first original series to feature on GAC Family.

As we head for season 2, we will see Morgan Kohan return as Lillian Walsh, a former orphan running the local orphanage and creating a loving, stable home for the orphaned children. Wendy Crewson returns as Tess Stewart and Hanneke Talbot as Maggie Parson. Meanwhile, Ryan-James (RJ) Hatanaka is back in his role as Mountie Gabriel Winslow. Also Jefferson Brown returns as Joe Moody, while Neil Crone stars as Ronnie Stewart.

After recent news that Lori Loughlin is reprising her role as Abigail, even more good news tells us that When Calls the Heart alum Daniel Lossing will be joining her in the two-part season 2 premiere. However, so far, his role is being kept strictly under wraps. Currently, Lissing has a recurring role on Fox’s The Cleaning Lady and also starred on S.W.A.T. and The Rookie.

As noted by Deadline, executive producers for When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas are Brad Krevoy, Brian Bird, Michael Landon, Jr., Alfonso H. Moreno, and David Anselmo. Meanwhile, the producer is Kym Crepin, while W. Michael Beard and Michael Shepard are supervising producers. Bradley Walsh is in the director’s chair for the When Calls the Heart spinoff.

IDK! Since he died in the original show he must be coming back in flashbacks? But why the spin off show?

Very happy to see them back, Was so hoping that Lori would return to When Calls The Heart, and that they could have figured out a way to bring Daniel back also, the show was at its peak when they all stared together, they are the perfect cast members they complement each other on screen, Maybe by some stroke of the pen next season they will return. You could have a whole series around Daniel returning to his wife and son. As it stands now Elizabeth and Lucas are not a good match, and there’s no connection with her son to him on screen.

So happy! I do hope that he is Jack on the new spin off–of course I would love to see both him and Abigail back on When Calls The Heart. The story line had him as passed away but the writers can change that. Lots of story lines to write!

Yes would love to see them both come back. Don’t like Lucas at all, he just has something cunning going on with this character. Would love to see Jack back and unite with his family – his son. And Abigail to take back her own roll at with her restaurant.

The show could get Prince Andrew to play Lori's love interest and really demonstrate to young people what little regard they have for them and the support they have for those who would abuse them.
